HPE NS204i-u Gen11 NVMe Hot Plug dispozitiv de stocare optimizat pentru boot, RAID, PCI Express (P48183-B21)

HPE NS204i-u is a universal hot-plug OS boot device that separates the operating system from the data storage plane for virtualized environments such as VMware, Linux and Windows. The unit includes two 480 GB M.2 NVMe SSDs, removes the need for cables and backplanes, does not occupy a PCIe slot, and auto-creates a RAID 1 volume to provide a resilient boot solution for enterprise servers. HPE also offers NS204i-p and NS204i-d variants as pre-configured PCIe card options that provide similar self-contained NVMe boot capabilities.

Advantages

The device simplifies OS segregation and streamlines installation by providing a universal, hot-plug form factor that eliminates cables and backplanes. Built-in hardware RAID 1 mirroring across two 480 GB NVMe SSDs increases boot resiliency, while NVMe performance delivers significantly faster read speeds versus legacy SATA boot devices. The PCI Express host interface ensures compatibility with modern server platforms and supports enterprise deployment scenarios.

Suitable for

• Virtualized server environments (VMware, Linux, Windows)
• Enterprise servers requiring OS/data separation
• Systems needing a compact, hot-plug OS boot solution
• Deployments that benefit from hardware RAID 1 boot mirroring

Key specifications

• Form factor: universal hot-plug OS boot device (NS204i-u) with M.2 NVMe SSDs
• Included storage: two 480 GB M.2 NVMe SSDs (mirrored via RAID 1)
• Interface: PCI Express host interface
• Variants: NS204i-u (universal hot-plug), NS204i-p and NS204i-d (pre-configured PCIe card options)
• Purpose: dedicated OS boot device for enterprise servers and virtualized environments

How to use

Install the NS204i-u into the designated hot-plug bay or select the NS204i-p/NS204i-d PCIe card into an available PCIe slot according to your server platform instructions. The universal installation design for NS204i-u removes the need for external cables or backplanes; on power-up the device automatically configures a RAID 1 volume across the two included 480 GB NVMe SSDs. Use your server firmware or operating system installer (VMware, Linux, Windows) to select the boot device and proceed with OS installation onto the mirrored NVMe volume.

Recommendations

Use the HPE NS204i-u family in environments where separating the OS from data storage improves manageability and recovery. Ensure firmware and server BIOS/UEFI are updated to the recommended versions from the server vendor, and verify compatibility with your specific server model before deployment. For enterprise redundancy, monitor SSD health and retain backups of critical configuration and OS images.
